An entire decade has passed since Scranton-native band, Tigers Jaw, released what would become a staple in the East Coast’s early, pre-2010 emo-indie explosion. From humble beginnings as a group of high school friends to becoming a national touring phenomenon in the indie-rock world, Tigers Jaw and their infamous pizza-covered self titled EP have continued to resonate with listeners after all of this time. Most fans would agree the raw emotions felt from growing up and moving on post high school while dealing with the loss of love and friendships was perfectly captured in songs such as “I Saw Water” and “The Sun”. The self titled album will always light a nostalgic flame, and luckily for America, the flame will burn bright all the way into mid-October.
At current, Tigers Jaw is half way through celebrating their honorary anniversary tour, entering into a 5 day block through California up the west coast before heading into the mid-west and back into the northern east coast. The final date will of course take place in their hometown of Scranton, PA. To celebrate in true indie-rock fashion throughout the 5 week long tour, the band not only plays one set but TWO full sets. The first half of the night includes songs from their most recent album, Spin, along with other various tracks from their catalog. The highly anticipated second set involves Tigers Jaw playing their self titled album sequentially in all of its entirety; a surprise fans can say they “Never Saw (it) Coming”.
